xAI raises $20 billion in a Series E funding round, exceeding its initial target, with major investors like Valor Equity and NVIDIA. The funds will bolster AI advancements and infrastructure.
xAI has successfully completed its Series E funding round, amassing $20 billion, significantly surpassing its initial target of $15 billion, according to x.ai. The round saw participation from prominent investors such as Valor Equity Partners, Stepstone Group, Fidelity Management & Research Company, Qatar Investment Authority, MGX, and Baron Capital Group. Strategic investments were also made by tech giants NVIDIA and Cisco Investments, who are committed to supporting xAI’s rapid expansion and the development of its comprehensive GPU clusters.
Advancing AI Infrastructure
The past year marked a period of significant progress for xAI, with the company making strides in several key projects. Among these is the expansion of its data centers, featuring the world’s largest AI supercomputers, Colossus I and II, now boasting over one million H100 GPU equivalents.
