An assassination attempt was made on US presidential candidate Donald Trump – and he survived to tell the tale. The ramifications of such an incident are set to be massive. The US must look at ways to curb political violence, once again consider gun legislation and ensure the safety of their government representatives.
Attempted assassinations might not seem like the biggest deal for the crypto community. But, with this US election shaping up to be decisive for the industry, the weekend’s cataclysmic events are already leaving their mark.

Trump’s Odds to Claim 2024 Victory Shorten
You only have to look at the price of Bitcoin to understand Trump’s newfound influence over the crypto market. After weeks of mediocre performance, Bitcoin has re-broke the US $60k (AU $89k) barrier and is up nearly 5% since Sunday morning.
This uptrend is partly due to the shortening of Trump’s election odds, with most betting agencies now placing the Republican candidate as the warm favourite to take out the 2024 US election. Trump has positioned himself as the “crypto president” and has promised favourable crypto legislation if he gains office.
For the time being, it seems positive Trump news will correlate with Bitcoin’s price rising.
MAGA Up 50% as “Eardrop” Memes Circulate
Despite receiving an injury to his ear, from all reports Donald Trump is “fine” following the attempted assassination. While some might use this time to recover – mentally just as much as physically – Trump has no such plans.
It was only a week ago he announced he’d be a keynote speaker at one of Bitcoin’s biggest 2024 conferences, set to be hosted in Nashville later this month. And despite the apparent danger, Trump has doubled down on his commitment and will most likely attend Bitcoin 2024 on July 27th.
Despite the seriousness of the situation, crypto’s meme community has taken to the assassination attempt like a duck to water.

Within 24 hours we’ve seen a new EAR token released via an… eardrop… commemorating the cartilage on Trump’s ear that was impacted by the gunshot (or glass fragments, as some commentators are suggesting).
Meanwhile, the MAGA token climbed nearly 50% in the aftermath of the shooting.
