- Popular TON project DOGS has unveiled its 2025 roadmap, and it features use cases like charitable initiatives and payment options for online and offline purchases.
- The project includes a US$4.5M charity pool supported by 6B unclaimed DOGS tokens and encourages the formation of local nonprofit chapters.
The team behind DOGS (DOGS), a popular memecoin launched on The Open Network (TON), unveiled the project’s roadmap for the first half of 2025, outlining some interesting initiatives.
The roadmap highlights several use cases for the DOGS token, including charitable purposes and as a means of payment, allowing users to make online and offline purchases, even when booking travel.
That’s right, users will be able to book a trip using a coin that was inspired by an iconic drawing by Telegram’s co-founder, Pavel Durov.Â
The roadmap also introduces a philanthropic initiative in which community members can establish local nonprofit chapters. These organisations will facilitate charity work supported by a US$4.5M (AU$7.3M) charity pool, comprising 6B unclaimed DOGS tokens.Â
The DOGS community has already partnered with groups like the Best Friends Animal Society, which shelters homeless animals in the United States, giving a practical use case for the token.
Spotty, Telegram’s Most Iconic Dog
The project’s charitable initiatives are sort of a tribute to Durov’s original doodle, called Spotty, which was drawn by Durov during a charity auction to support orphanages. Spotty also became the mascot of VK, a Russian social media company developed by Durov.
DOGS operates on Telegram as a bot with over 11M monthly users and a community channel with over 14M subscribers. The token has a supply of 550B tokens, with 81.5% allocated to the community to promote widespread access.
DOGS popularity by Q3 of 2024 was at its peak when the TON community noted that over 50M users engaged with the DOGS mini app on Telegram, with 42M eligible for the token airdrop. It even congested the TON blockchain due to massive activity from users claiming DOGS tokens during the airdrop.

A similar outage occurred the following day, lasting approximately six hours. In total, the network experienced 12 hours of downtime over 36 hours as it struggled to handle the surge in activity. Something similar happened with the meteoric rise of Notcoin (NOT), one of TON’s most popular Tap-To-Earn (T2E) projects.
