Telegram introduces six new features, including blockchain integration for gifts, enhancing user interaction and engagement on the platform.

Telegram has announced a significant update introducing six new features, enhancing user experience by integrating blockchain technology with its platform, according to Telegram. This update, dated January 24, 2025, offers users innovative ways to interact and engage through gifts that can now be worn, moved to the blockchain, and shared across channels.

Wear Your Unique Gifts

One of the standout features is the ability to wear collectible gifts as an emoji status. This function allows users to upgrade their gifts to collectibles, which can then be displayed as a glittering emoji status on their profile. This not only personalizes the user’s profile but also adds a dynamic visual element that matches the backdrop and symbol of the collectible gift.

Move Gifts to the Blockchain

In a move that aligns with the growing trend of blockchain integration, Telegram now allows gifts to be transferred or auctioned via the TON blockchain. This feature provides users with permanent control over their gifts, even in cases where they might lose access to their Telegram account. By moving gifts to a TON wallet, users can connect to external services, including auction sites that offer additional benefits for collectibles.

Send Gifts to Channels

Telegram users can now celebrate special occasions by sending gifts to channels. These gifts are prominently displayed on the channel’s profile, allowing subscribers to upgrade the gift using Stars before sending. This upgrade transforms the gift into a unique collectible at no extra cost. Channel owners can transfer these gifts to other users or channels, or they can choose to auction them on the blockchain, providing a new avenue for fundraising and support for various causes.

Share and Filter Gifts

Users can post collectible gifts on their stories, generating animated previews that showcase their unique artwork. Each gift comes with a unique link, making it easy to share with friends or post to channels. On channel profiles, a new ‘Gifts’ tab allows users to filter gifts by value, collectible status, and other criteria, enhancing the browsing experience for collectors and enthusiasts.

With these updates, Telegram continues to innovate, providing users with creative and engaging ways to utilize blockchain technology within the platform. As these features roll out gradually, they promise to enhance user interaction and expand the possibilities of digital gift-giving within the Telegram ecosystem.
