‘Samurai Shodown R’ Will Feature Expansive World
Now, the series is coming to the blockchain, or rather, the Sui blockchain. Titled Samurai Shodown R, the game is slated for a 2025 release on the yet-to-be-launched SuiPlay0x1 Handheld.
The game is being developed by Korean studio LumiWave in collaboration with SNK and will feature dynamic non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which change as the player progresses through the game.
The announcement was made on 30 October by MystenLab and SuiPlay, giving some early hints about the game by saying Samurai Shodown R will feature an “expansive world” and that it will come as a “mobile MMORPG – perfect for the SuiPlay0x1 and gaming on the go”.
All The Good Stuff, Without Gas Fees
In the new massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) style, gamers will be able to battle with other users, enjoy events together, and even participate in raids.
Gamers should not even notice that a blockchain is involved, as the developers aim to remove gas fees and wallet creation from the gamers’ experience. Meaning players can engage with the game without having to directly manage these typically complex and technical aspects.
