Republican Tom Emmer withdrew from the race for the Speaker of the House shortly after securing his party’s internal nomination. His chances of winning were undermined by a small faction within the party, similar to previous candidates Steve Scalise and Jim Jordan.

With the Republican’s slim 221-212 majority over the Democrats in the House, a speaker candidate can only afford a loss of four votes, assuming all Democrats oppose. Emmer’s decision to drop out came after former President Donald Trump opposed his nomination and he didn’t secure enough votes from his House Republican colleagues. Emmer A Pro Crypto Politician

Tom Emmer is known for his support of the crypto space and has challenged Gary Gensler, the chair of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) during hearings. Gensler is known for his stance against crypto, his hardline approach and unwillingness to provide clear guidelines.

Emmer said in a recent hearing, “It cannot be understated that a common theme throughout your career, sir, is your relentless loyalty to the largest financial institutions at the clear expense of innovation, competition, and everyday Americans.”

This observation by Emmer supports a widespread notion: that Gensler prioritises the concerns of his former Wall Street colleagues over the interests of investors and innovation.
