NVIDIA expands its Aerial platform with innovative tools to support AI-native wireless networks, crucial for 6G advancements. The move enhances AI-RAN and 6G research globally.

NVIDIA has unveiled a suite of advanced tools designed to propel the development of AI-native wireless networks, a critical step towards the deployment of 6G technology. The announcement, made on March 18, 2025, introduces new capabilities within the NVIDIA Aerial Research portfolio, aimed at empowering developers and telecom leaders to innovate in AI-RAN and 6G research, according to NVIDIA’s blog.

Expanding the AI Aerial Portfolio

The expanded offerings include the Aerial Omniverse Digital Twin, Aerial Commercial Test Bed, NVIDIA Sionna 1.0 library, and Sionna Research Kit. These tools are designed to facilitate the development, testing, and deployment of AI-driven wireless networks using NVIDIA’s accelerated computing technology.

The Aerial Omniverse Digital Twin provides a simulation platform for testing algorithms in digital replicas of wireless systems, available on the NVIDIA DGX Cloud. The Aerial Commercial Test Bed, a full-stack AI-RAN deployment system, allows real-time testing of AI models, available on NVIDIA MGX. Meanwhile, the NVIDIA Sionna 1.0 library, widely used in communication systems research, now includes enhanced simulation capabilities.

Collaborations and Industry Impact

Prominent industry players like Amdocs, Ansys, Capgemini, and SoftBank, along with over 150 research institutions globally, are leveraging NVIDIA’s Aerial platform. This collaboration aims to advance AI-native wireless technologies and optimize performance under varying traffic conditions.

Notably, companies such as DeepSig have developed innovative solutions like OmniPHY, an AI-native air interface, achieving significant throughput gains. This underscores the potential of AI-native signal processing to revolutionize wireless networks.

NVIDIA’s Commitment to AI and 6G

NVIDIA’s commitment to advancing AI and 6G is further demonstrated by its 6G Developer Program, which engages over 2,000 members from leading tech firms and academic institutions. This community focuses on leveraging NVIDIA’s technologies to enhance AI-RAN and 6G research efforts.

By integrating AI into the air interface, NVIDIA aims to redefine wireless network design and performance, enhancing spectral efficiency and reducing power consumption. The company’s tools are set to play a crucial role in the forthcoming era of AI-driven wireless communication.
