NVIDIA extends the deadline for its Project G-Assist Plug-In Hackathon, offering participants a chance to win top-tier GeForce RTX hardware and more.

NVIDIA has announced an extension to the submission deadline for its Project G-Assist Plug-In Hackathon, providing participants additional time to develop innovative plug-ins that enhance the capabilities of the experimental AI assistant, Project G-Assist. The new deadline is set for Sunday, July 20, until 11:59 PM PT, according to NVIDIA’s official blog.

Project G-Assist and Competition Incentives

Project G-Assist, accessible through the NVIDIA App, empowers users to control and optimize NVIDIA GeForce RTX systems using natural language commands. The hackathon encourages developers to expand Project G-Assist’s functionality, offering the chance to win high-end prizes, including a GeForce RTX 5090 laptop and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 or RTX 5070 Founders Edition graphics cards. Additionally, winners will receive NVIDIA Deep Learning Institute credits and potential exposure on NVIDIA’s social media platforms.

Technical Requirements and Resources

To participate, developers must have a GeForce RTX 50, 40, or 30 Series Desktop GPU with at least 12GB of VRAM, a compatible Windows operating system, and a recent GeForce Game Ready or NVIDIA Studio Driver. NVIDIA’s RTX AI Garage provides a wealth of resources, including tutorials, webinars, and a dedicated Discord server for collaboration and support. The NVIDIA GitHub repository offers step-by-step guidance and sample plug-ins to assist developers in creating customized functionalities.

Development and Community Support

Senior NVIDIA software engineer Sydney Altobell has shared insights into working with G-Assist plug-ins in an on-demand webinar, available on the NVIDIA Developer YouTube channel. The community is encouraged to engage on NVIDIA’s Developer Discord server, where developers can share experiences and seek advice from the G-Assist engineering team.

For those looking to streamline their development process, tools like the ChatGPT Plug-In Builder are available to transform ideas into functional plug-ins with minimal coding effort. This tool leverages OpenAI’s custom GPT builder to generate plug-in code efficiently.

As the hackathon draws to a close, participants are urged to finalize their submissions and take advantage of the resources provided by NVIDIA to enhance their projects. More information regarding submission details and requirements can be found on the Hackathon entry page.
