The Hong Kong Monetary Authority alerts the public about fraudulent websites and phishing messages related to Mox Bank Limited.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a public warning regarding fraudulent websites and phishing messages impersonating Mox Bank Limited. This alert comes in response to multiple reports received by the HKMA concerning these deceptive activities.

Fraudulent Activities Targeting Mox Bank Customers

According to the HKMA, the fraudulent websites and phishing messages are designed to trick individuals into providing sensitive personal information such as login passwords and One-Time Passwords (OTPs). These scams often use embedded hyperlinks that direct victims to fake bank websites where their data can be stolen.

The HKMA emphasizes that legitimate banks, including Mox Bank, will never send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks for performing transactions. Additionally, banks will not request sensitive personal information through these channels.

Action Steps for Affected Individuals

Individuals who suspect they have provided personal information or conducted financial transactions through these fraudulent websites or messages are urged to contact Mox Bank immediately using the contact information provided on the official press release. Furthermore, they should report the incident to the Crime Wing Information Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force at 2860 5012.

The HKMA’s alert serves as a critical reminder for the public to remain vigilant against online scams and to verify the authenticity of any communication purportedly from their bank before taking any action.

For more detailed information, visit the official HKMA website.
