  • The Blockchain Game Alliance has launched a revamped 2025 edition of its annual State of the Industry Survey, aiming to be more user-friendly so it can better capture industry trends.
  • The survey is open to all professionals working in blockchain gaming and related industries globally and for the first time is available in multiple languages including English, Spanish and Japanese.
  • The results of the survey are expected to be published in mid-December 2025.

Professionals around the globe working in blockchain gaming and related industries are being encouraged to have their say on topics including AI and regulation with the launch of the fifth annual State of the Industry Survey by the Blockchain Game Alliance (BGA).

The gaming industry is evolving, and we want to hear from YOU! 🎮

“While AI is one of this year’s hot topics, the real value of the survey is in capturing how industry professionals actually feel about these trends,” BGA Co-President, Yasmina Kazitani, said in a statement sent to Crypto News Australia.

This is an opportunity to see which ideas are having a real impact on blockchain gaming, and which remain mostly hype.

Themes addressed in this year’s survey include the use of artificial intelligence (AI), new user acquisition and monetisation models, regulatory issues, the development of blockchain infrastructure, and emerging trends in community dynamics.

BGA said it had redesigned the survey from the ground up to more effectively capture industry trends and to make it faster and easier to complete. The number of questions has been whittled down to just 12 core questions, compared to 23 in previous years. For the first time since the survey began in 2021, it’s now also available in several languages other than English, including Spanish, French, Portuguese, Japanese and Arabic.

“Since we first ran this survey in 2021, new blockchains and technologies, shifting business models, and evolving market cycles have completely reshaped the landscape,” said BGA Co-President Sebastien Borge.

The progress in the web3 gaming ecosystem is constantly evolving. That’s why it is essential to review and refresh the survey this year, to ensure it captures today’s priorities and sets a meaningful baseline for the years ahead.

BGA was founded in 2018 to advocate for the use of blockchain technology in gaming. According to the BGA, it currently has over 300 members, including “major games and studios, guilds, blockchain protocols, venture capital, service organizations, crypto exchanges, and individuals within the blockchain gaming community.”

The results of the survey are expected to be published in mid-December.

Blockchain Gaming Struggling, But Major Studios Still Interested

According to DAppRadar’s Games Report for Q2, 2025 which was published in July and conducted in partnership with BGA, the blockchain gaming sector is not doing well. The report found there was a 17% drop in player activity quarter-on-quarter, with an average unique daily active wallet count of 4.8 million.

In addition to the reduced player count, the report also found around 300 dApps shut down entirely in the quarter: around 8% of all gaming dApps tracked by DAppRadar. But it gets worse, year-on-year the report found that funding for blockchain gaming had virtually completely dried up, collapsing 93% in just 12 months.

On the bright side though, DAppRadar’s report finds some well-established gaming industry players have started to dip their toes in the world of blockchain gaming, with large studios such as Sega and Ubisoft launching titles in Q2 2025. Other well-established brands, such as Cirque du Soleil and FIFA, also partnered with web3 firms to bring their brands into gaming and metaverse projects during Q2.
