BNB Chain outlines its strategic plans for 2025, focusing on enhancing speed, reducing costs, and improving user experience, aiming to rival centralized exchanges.
BNB Chain is setting ambitious goals for the remainder of 2025 and into 2026, aiming to enhance blockchain performance and user experience, according to BNB Chain. As it evolves from a Cosmos-based DEX chain to a sophisticated dual-chain system, BNB Chain continues to focus on decentralization, speed, and cost-efficiency.
Performance Enhancements
In the first half of 2025, BNB Chain reduced block time to 0.75 seconds and finality to 1.875 seconds. These upgrades were part of two major hardforks, Lorentz and Maxwell, which also increased network bandwidth to 100 million gas per second. These improvements are designed to accommodate high-volume onchain activity, ensuring that users experience seamless transactions even during peak periods.
Cost Efficiency and Fairness
Gas fees have been reduced to a median of $0.01, making interactions affordable during peak periods. Additionally, malicious MEV (Miner Extractable Value) attacks have been cut by 95%, thanks to the efforts of the Goodwill Alliance.
Infrastructure Upgrades
BNB Chain plans to introduce a Rust-based client to support 10–20x more throughput, enhancing speed and efficiency. This client, based on Ethereum’s Reth, will improve memory usage and node syncing. The chain will also introduce Super Instructions to optimize smart contract execution, addressing performance bottlenecks in areas like DEX swaps and launchpad events.
Future Outlook
Looking ahead, BNB Chain aims to deliver performance that rivals centralized exchanges with sub-150ms transaction finality and over 20,000 TPS for complex transactions. The upcoming upgrades will introduce native privacy features and make onchain access intuitive while maintaining asset control. The chain is also focusing on building a next-gen blockchain infrastructure with the help of developers, researchers, and ecosystem partners.
