His extensive experience also includes executive roles at Microsoft. At Character.AI, Anand will focus on advancing the company’s long-term strategy, leveraging its multimodal AI technology, and expanding its user community to shape the future of entertainment.

In addition to Anand’s appointment, Dominic Perella will assume the role of Chief Legal Officer & SVP of Global Affairs, ensuring a robust leadership team is in place for the company’s future endeavors.

Anand has expressed his commitment to enhancing the platform for its community of users and creators. He outlined several upcoming improvements, including enhancements to memory and model quality, adjustments to user safety filters, and improved search and discoverability features for Characters. These changes are expected to roll out over the next 60 days.

Character.AI is also focusing on providing creators with tools to develop more immersive and expressive Characters, with some features already live. The company aims to make these tools more accessible and to broaden the possibilities for user-generated content, allowing Characters to interact in new multimedia formats.
