The HKMA has issued a warning regarding fraudulent websites and social media accounts impersonating Chong Hing Bank, advising the public to remain vigilant.





The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a stern warning to the public about fraudulent websites and social media accounts that are impersonating Chong Hing Bank Limited. According to the HKMA, these malicious entities have been reported and are under scrutiny.

Fraudulent Activities Alert

The HKMA’s announcement highlights a press release from Chong Hing Bank, which details the emergence of these fraudulent platforms. The HKMA has made the press release accessible through a hyperlink on their official website. [source]

Public Advisory and Safety Measures

In its advisory, the HKMA underscores that legitimate banks will never send SMS or emails containing embedded hyperlinks directing customers to bank websites for transactions. Moreover, they will not request sensitive personal information, such as login credentials or One-Time Passwords, through phone calls, emails, or SMS.

Action for Affected Individuals

The HKMA advises anyone who has inadvertently shared personal information or conducted financial transactions via these fraudulent channels to immediately contact Chong Hing Bank using the contact details provided in the official press release. Additionally, affected individuals are encouraged to report such incidents to the Hong Kong Police Force’s Crime Wing Information Centre at 2860 5012.
