- Geraci anticipates a major shift in crypto regulation under Trump’s administration with Paul Atkins as SEC Chair and David Sacks as crypto czar, marking a departure from Gensler’s cautious approach.
- Bitcoin ETFs are projected to outperform traditional gold funds while Ethereum ETFs could expand to include options trading and staking features.
- The market could welcome over 50 new crypto-related ETFs including spot funds for Solana and XRP alongside innovative products like the Bitcoin Standard Corporations ETF.
- Major financial institutions are expected to embrace crypto ETFs with Vanguard potentially offering brokerage access to spot Bitcoin and Ethereum funds despite their traditionally conservative stance.
Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) have been a strong narrative for crypto in 2024 and they could continue to dominate headlines if one ETF guru is correct. Nate Geraci, of the ETF Store, has set out his prediction for 2025 and they’re too juicy to not reveal.
While all of the predictions are interesting – especially if you are holding or are planning to invest in the iShares Core S&P 500 ETF or the Vanguard S&P 500 ETF, which could see a fee reduction – it’s really the second point that will make any crypto degen’s mouth water.
The “Year of Crypto ETFs”
2024 saw Spot Bitcoin and Spot Ethereum fund approvals but that could be topped by a whole bunch of altcoin funds in 2025, according to Geraci.

That’s because Trump’s inauguration is around the corner and this likely means there will “be a markedly different approach to crypto by the Trump administration than what we witnessed under the Biden administration”.
Crypto-friendly Paul Atkins is set to succeed Gary Gensler as SEC Chair. There will now be a “crypto czar”, a role which will be filled by Silicon Valley veteran David Sacks. A crypto advisory council is being established underneath Sacks, with industry executives helping to shape the administration’s policies towards digital assets.
Geraci said that while Gensler always referred to crypto as the “Wild West”, with the incoming Trump administration, “that is exactly what we’ll get from an ETF perspective”.
