- Peter Todd has unequivocally stated that he is not Satoshi Nakamoto, despite HBO’s recent documentary pointing the finger at him.
- Todd also notes that the accusations have had a negative impact, citing that criminals might target him to access Satoshi’s infamous billion-dollar stockpile of BTC.
- Despite the stress, Todd has had fun with the claims on social media, using the opportunity to have a crack at Australian developer Craig Wright.
- The crypto community has mocked the HBO documentary, calling it an attention-grab.
It might be a little unprofessional to use the acronym “lol” to start off a news article – but we really can’t think of any other term that perfectly encapsulates HBO’s most recent documentary.
The highly-anticipated film Money Electric went live earlier this week, promising to unveil once and for all the identity of Satoshi Nakamoto.
According to the filmmaker, Cullen Hoback, that privilege belongs to Canadian programmer Peter Todd, due to some interesting forum exchanges over a decade ago and…yeah, that’s about it.
After all the hype and speculation among the community, the documentary’s big curtain reveal was almost universally regarded as a flop.
LOL.

Peter Todd, the man “accused” of being Satoshi, is adamant that the documentary is way off the mark.
In an interview with the BBC, Todd simply stated “I am not Satoshi Nakamoto.”
Over on his social media page, the Canadian had a little bit more fun with the documentary, even giving Craig Wright a totally unnecessary drive-by for no particular reason (okay…I can think of a few).
While it’s all fun and games in theory, the documentary’s “unveiling” has actually had a negative impact on Todd’s life. The key reason behind this is Satoshi’s supposed fortune comprising 1.1M Bitcoins (worth close to AU $100B).
According to Todd, he’s even had to “travel away from…home” due to the fear that people will come to steal his non-existent wealth.
In Breaking News, Craig Wright is Also Not Satoshi Nakamoto
The community in general reacted with incredible skepticism upon the documentary’s big reveal.

Most seem to think director Cullen Hoback’s evidence is spotty, and the conclusion hastily drawn.
People are still typically convinced that Nakamoto is Hal Finney or Len Sassaman, two of early-stage Bitcoin’s biggest names.
Unfortunately, a quick scroll through social media revealed that nobody other than Craig Wright has suggested that Craig Wright is Satoshi.
