And finally, after 15 years, the truth has been revealed…

Money Electric Documentary to Premiere on October 8th
A trailer for an upcoming HBO documentary, Money Electric: The Bitcoin History, was released yesterday, causing a stir among the community.
The new feature, led by acclaimed director Cullen Hoback, is supposedly set to reveal – once and for all – the true identity by Bitcoin’s pseudonymous developer Satoshi Nakamoto.
The world is split on whether the documentary will actually name-drop Satoshi, seeing as the decades-old mystery has had many attempts to solve it over the years.
But according to media outlet Politico, HBO’s newest venture will unveil the truth behind Satoshi, including potentially linking them to crimes associated with Bitcoin’s usage.
Most have speculated Money Electric is likely to cycle through the usual suspects – Hal Finney, Adam Back and Len Sassaman – in its quest to uncover the truth.
For some strange reason, the one-time-self-proclaimed-Satoshi Nakamoto, Australian computer scientist Craig Wright, was absent from the trailer. I wonder if that has anything to do with the public court case that definitively ruled he was not, in fact, the founder of Bitcoin.
Probably just a coincidence.
Several industry figureheads have weighed in on the trailer, with Galaxy Digital’s Head of Research suggesting the documentary will reveal Len Sassaman as Bitcoin’s righteous overlord.
Interestingly, the Politico report has garnered almost as much attention as the potential unmasking of Satoshi Nakamoto.
The article kicks things off talking about Bitcoin’s use in crime, suggesting it’s a “popular means of payment for illegal products and services, such as narcotics, cyber-fraud and contract killings.”
The report further links BTC, and crypto in general, to Elon Musk and Donald Trump. While these two…celebrities?… are certainly entwined with the industry as of the 2020s, they have almost nothing to do with Satoshi Nakamoto and Bitcoin’s original whitepaper.
Others ignored the overtones of Politico’s article to express their opinions, which ranged from sceptical to cynical.
No matter what the documentary reveals, Crypto Twitter is going to have an absolute field day upon its release next week.
