The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a warning about fraudulent websites and social media accounts impersonating Airstar Bank Limited.





The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a public warning regarding fraudulent websites and social media accounts that are impersonating Airstar Bank Limited. According to the HKMA, these deceptive platforms have been reported and are under investigation.

Details of the Fraud

The fraudulent websites and social media accounts have been reported to the HKMA, which is now alerting the public to exercise caution. Airstar Bank Limited has also released a press statement addressing the issue. The HKMA has provided a hyperlink to the press release on their official website. HKMA website.

Guidelines for the Public

The HKMA emphasized that legitimate banks will not send SMS or emails with embedded hyperlinks directing customers to their websites for transactions. They also clarified that banks will never ask for sensitive personal information, such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords (OTP), via phone, email, or SMS, including through embedded links.

Action Steps for Potential Victims

Individuals who have provided personal information or conducted financial transactions through or in response to these fraudulent websites or social media accounts are advised to contact Airstar Bank using the information provided in the official press release. Additionally, they should report the incident to the Police by contacting the Crime Wing Information Centre of the Hong Kong Police Force at 2860 5012.

The HKMA’s alert aims to raise awareness and protect the public from falling victim to these scams.
