The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) alerts the public about a fraudulent social media account impersonating Livi Bank Limited, urging caution and reporting suspicious activities.

The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has issued a public warning regarding a fraudulent social media account that is impersonating Livi Bank Limited. According to the HKMA, this fraudulent account has been reported to the authority and poses a significant risk to the public.

Details of the Fraudulent Account

In a press release, the HKMA highlighted that the fraudulent social media account is misleading users by pretending to be affiliated with Livi Bank Limited. The HKMA urges the public to remain vigilant and avoid engaging with suspicious social media accounts.

The HKMA also emphasized that legitimate banks will not send SMS or emails containing embedded hyperlinks directing users to the bank’s websites to carry out transactions. Furthermore, they will not request sensitive personal information, such as login passwords or One-Time Passwords, via phone, email, or SMS.

Public Advisory

Members of the public who have interacted with the fraudulent social media account or provided any personal information are advised to contact Livi Bank immediately using the contact information provided in the official press release. Additionally, they should report the incident to the Hong Kong Police Force’s Crime Wing Information Centre at 2860 5012.

For further information, the official press release can be accessed on the HKMA website.

The HKMA continues to monitor the situation and urges the public to stay informed about potential scams and fraudulent activities.
