- Entrepreneur and Bitcoin supporter, Mark Cuban, says Kamala Harris’ team have reached out to him with multiple questions about crypto.
- Cuban has also said he’s hearing that a potential Harris administration would be “far more open” to business, AI and other tech innovation.
- Harris hasn’t publicly discussed her views on the crypto industry, but these early signs suggest she may be at least considering policies better for the development of crypto in the US.
The early signs coming out of the Kamala Harris camp suggest that she could be more friendly to crypto than Joe Biden has been during his presidential term.
Speaking to Decrypt on Tuesday, entrepreneur and noted Bitcoin supporter, Mark Cuban, said the Harris campaign has already been in touch seeking his input on Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Cuban said it was a “good sign” that Harris will adopt a more positive posture towards crypto.
In a separate interview with Politico yesterday, Cuban also said he’s hearing feedback that the Harris campaign seems to be “far more open” to business and tech innovation generally than the Biden administration has been.

Cuban: Harris Team Engaging with Crypto and Tech
In his interview with Decrypt, Cuban said that Harris’ camp had engaged with him and asked him several questions about crypto:
I’m getting multiple questions from her camp about crypto…so I take that as a good sign.
Cuban added that he’s not aware of any other crypto industry figures who’ve been contacted by the Harris team. He told Politico that he’s hearing that the Harris team seems to be more open to supporting business and tech innovation generally than Biden has been:
The feedback I’m getting, but certainly not confirmed by the VP, is that she will be far more open to business, [artificial intelligence], crypto and government as a service.
Cuban also added that for Harris distinguishing herself by laying out a new raft of policies towards business will send an important message:
Changing the policies changes the message and lets everyone know she is in charge and open, literally, for business.
Harris’ Position on Crypto Remains Unclear Despite Comments
Despite Cuban’s comments, Harris still hasn’t publicly articulated her position on crypto and it remains unclear exactly how she intends to govern the industry, if elected. In fact, Harris isn’t yet the formal Democratic nominee—although she’s the clear frontrunner due to being endorsed by Biden and being able to access Biden’s campaign funds.
On the bright side for crypto, Harris—who lived much of her life in San Francisco—is considered to be well connected within the Silicon Valley tech scene, suggesting she understands the importance of technological innovation and may have insight into the revolutionary potential of crypto. It also makes political sense for Harris to shift towards a more positive stance on crypto to nullify Trump’s aggressive courting of the industry during his campaign.

On the down side, Harris may seek to provide regulatory continuity and maintain Biden era policies towards crypto which at times have seemed overly punitive and have hampered the development of the industry.
Based on Cuban’s comments though, it does appear that the Harris campaign is at least weighing their options and considering taking a friendlier approach to digital assets — something all crypto investors will be happy to see.
