- Ryan Selkis announced his resignation as CEO of crypto analytics firm Messari on X on Friday, following a week in which he posted inflammatory political messages.
- Selkis said anyone who doesn’t vote Trump can “die in a f***ing fire” and declared that the US is literally at war.
- Selkis will continue full-time at Messari in a Senior Advisor role, while the firm’s CFO, Eric Turner becomes interim CEO while the search for a permanent replacement takes place.
Trump Derangement Syndrome— the most mind-bending of all the syndromes—claimed another victim last Friday as Ryan Selkis, the CEO of crypto analytics firm Messari, stepped down after posting a flurry of inflammatory and deranged posts on X.
The attempted assassination of Donald Trump last weekend seems to have been the last straw for Selkis, prompting him to unleash what was once known as a ‘tweet storm’. He shared his belief that anyone who doesn’t vote Trump can “die in a f***ing fire” among other pearls of wisdom.
In a subsequent statement, Selkis, whose username on X is twobitidiot, said that his political rhetoric had put his team “in harm’s way” and he will therefore be stepping down as CEO. But he will continue to work full-time at Messari in the role of Senior Advisor.
Eric Turner, Messari’s Chief Revenue Officer, has been appointed interim CEO until a permanent replacement is found.

US Literally at War, Says Selkis
Following the shocking attempted assassination of Donald Trump on July 13 Selkis, who was previously the CEO of crypto media outlet CoinDesk, posted a since-deleted message on X saying that “Anyone that votes against Trump at this point can die in a f***ing fire,” later adding “Literal war.”
A later post by Selkis added: “The Civil War for the country started today, and if you are anti-Trump you are against the men who are willing to fight. Good luck.” And then the cultural Marxists copped it, as Selkis continued his ‘truth telling’ tirade:
If I were a Cultural Marxist hellbent on destroying the country, I would have weathered the storm. But I told the truth too many times, and lost my temper after they tried to kill the President last Saturday.
It would appear that Selkis either didn’t know, or didn’t care, that Trump’s shooter was a registered Republican—a group of people not usually known for their love of any kind of Marxism.
Selkis Stays as Full-time Senior Advisor (Which Is Totally Not the Same Thing as CEO)
Selkis announced his resignation as Messari CEO on X, saying “A leader’s first responsibility is to his team,” adding that this past week is the first time he’s said anything that could harm his team:
In the statement accompanying his X post, Selkis said he’ll take on the full-time role of Senior Advisor, with Eric Turner, formerly Messari’s CFO to become the interim CEO.

Selkis also took the opportunity to once again air his grievances in his statement saying “I was horrified at the attempted assassination of President Trump this past Saturday and have been disgusted at the media and administration’s abject failure at pressing for answers in the attack’s aftermath as well as their abject failure to tamp down divisive rhetoric that contributed to the attack in the first place.”
The former CEO signed off his statement with, “It’s time for a change of leadership at Messari. And in the US.”
