Telegram has rolled out a major update, introducing over 10 new features aimed at integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into its messaging platform. This update, announced on May 7, 2026, allows users to leverage AI bots across chats, automate workflows, and enhance customization options, marking a significant expansion of Telegram’s capabilities.

One of the standout features is the ability to tag AI bots in any chat using their @username, enabling them to generate text, fact-check, or even create images directly within the conversation. Users can also connect autonomous bots to their profiles for inbox automation, tailoring which chats the bots can access. This hands-off communication tool could be a game-changer for businesses and communities managing high volumes of messages.

AI Interactions Made Smarter

For the first time, Telegram allows bot-to-bot communication, enabling autonomous agents to interact with each other. Developers can use this functionality to create fully automated workflows, streamlining tasks that previously required human intervention. “Guest Bots” are another highlight, allowing AI bots to operate in any chat—even ones where they’re not members. Coupled with an enhanced search function that indexes over 100 million emojis and stickers in 36 languages, the platform is leaning heavily into personalization.
